Learning Iron Oxide Red 2
2024 / 06 / 21
I am Otto, learning about pigments. As a benchmark in the pigment industry, Lanxess has always been in a leading position. Today, I will learn about the Lanxess Bayferrox® Red 500+ and 4100+ types. If there are any errors, please help me correct them.
Comparing the 100+ and 500+ types, first of all, in terms of color difference, the 100+ type has a color difference of 1.5, and the 500+ type has a color difference of 1.0, indicating that the 500+ type has a smaller color difference.
In terms of pH value, the 500+ type is lower, which means it has stronger acidity.
A particle size of 100+ is small and has a large oil absorption capacity; The 500+ type is exactly the opposite.
The 4100+ type is similar to the 100+ type, and the larger the number of types, the larger the particle diameter. But the oil absorption is lower compared to the 100+ type.
The difference between the 4100+ and 500+ types and the 100+ type may be due to the different manufacturing processes used. Especially after calcination at 1000 degrees for half an hour and 30 minutes, the loss of the 100+ type is less than 0.7%, while the loss of the 500+ and 4100+ types is less than 4%.
